Her passion for helping those impacted by the court system and substance abuse began in her youth, where she actively supported friends and family involved in the justice system, guiding them to resources and offering unwavering support. This early dedication inspired her to pursue a career focused on making a difference for the incarcerated population. Michelle started her professional journey as a court clerk and worked with Justice-Involved individuals for over 18 years. During her time at a substance abuse facility, she discovered the deep connection between mental health and substance abuse, sparking a lifelong commitment to this field. This experience never felt like work to her; rather, it was a calling to make a positive impact.
In 2012, driven by a desire to offer more personalized care, Michelle became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, expanding her focus to mental health. Michelle is also a Masters-level Addiction Counselor. She believes in a holistic, wrap-around approach to address the various systems influencing an individual's life and choices. Through the DXT Therapeutic Foundation, she provides a wide range of services, including individual and family counseling, substance abuse counseling, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs (PRP), transitional housing, reintegration support, mentoring, and more.
Her passion for making a tangible difference led her to establish the DXT Therapeutic Foundation and DXT Therapeutic Services. Through the organizations, she is able to push her vision of providing comprehensive services that address the unique challenges faced by those impacted by the criminal justice system, substance abuse, and more.
